Where your list's sales reps went, and where they came from.

You headhunt AEs out of a short list of retail-tech vendors. We ran that list both ways, US sales ICs only, plus five lookalikes picked by the reps they actually trade, then re-read every profile live today. 1,826 people have held the seat. 1,308 have moved on, and 408 of them still sell as ICs. The full flow is below, then four more places to look.

What I heard

A short list you already hunt from, and the places it leads.

I have a very specific list of companies that I will typically headhunt out of.
A lot of these companies have already been acquired. It is interesting to see where they have potentially migrated.
Other places that we could start to pick up on, places to pull candidates.
Talent mapping, talent planning, and succession planning across the business.
What it has to do

Four things the flow has to get right for Flip.

01

Start from your list

Bluecore, Blue Yonder, Blueshift, Movable Ink, mParticle and Wunderkind are where you already look. The flow starts there, and adds five lookalikes you can swap out.

02

Both directions

Where each rep went after, and the job they held right before. The "before" half is where new places to source come from.

03

ICs only

AEs, account managers and account directors, sales executives, SDRs and BDRs. Sales managers, VPs, ops and enablement are left out.

04

Count the companies that are gone

A retail-tech list ages fast: vendors get bought, merged or folded. Their reps are still out there, so the pull has to reach them.

01 · The ask, done since the call

Your eleven companies, both directions.

Six from your list, plus five lookalikes: Zeta Global, Hightouch, Iterable, RELEX Solutions and Marigold. We didn't guess them. They're the retail-tech vendors that trade the most sales reps with your six, after dropping giants like Salesforce and Oracle. Pick a company to see where its reps came from and where they are now.

The second ring: companies that feed your list

New places to pull from

Your eleven trade reps with a ring of companies that aren't on the list. Acxiom fed 26 sales ICs straight into Zeta Global. Infor fed 20 into Blue Yonder. Radial, which runs eCommerce fulfillment and customer care for retailers, fed 6 across the eleven. Kinaxis took 9 back out.

How it runs
  1. Read the job right before every seat at your eleven, from experience.employment_details.past.
  2. Count employers on both sides, and drop the giants (Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, Adobe, Google) that feed everyone.
  3. Run the same flow on the top of the ring, and again one ring out if you want it. person_search

A logo list stops at the logos. The ring comes from the reps' own careers, so it finds the places you'd never think to put on the list.

The vendors that were bought still have reps

Acquired and exitedNashville and Indianapolis benches

Nine retail-tech vendors that sold to big retailers were bought or folded into bigger platforms. 544 people held a US sales IC seat at them, and 109 still sell as ICs somewhere other than the buyer. Their old offices still show: 59 live in Indianapolis (ExactTarget) and 38 in Nashville (Campaign Monitor), where Flip posted an Enterprise AE role this year.

How it runs
  1. Search on the past employer, even when the company page has gone quiet. experience.employment_details.past.company_id
  2. Drop the buyer as a destination: going from ExactTarget to Salesforce wasn't a move.
  3. Keep the ones still in a sales IC seat, by city. basic_profile.location

A company that's gone has no open roles and no team page. Its reps' careers still name it, so they're still findable.

The same reps, for your healthcare seats

Only Flip can run this oneHealthcare AE and BDR

Flip's AE posts this year read "Healthcare OR Retail", and Flip sells to urgent cares, dental offices, PT clinics and vets. The healthcare twin of a retail-tech AE is the rep who sold phones, texting and booking into those same front desks. Eight of those vendors: 3,540 people held the seat, 532 sell there today, and 813 moved on and still sell. Dental tech startups are already hiring them: Overjet (26), Dandy (19), Pearl (12).

How it runs
  1. The same flow on eight front-desk and patient-call vendors. person_search
  2. Skip vendors on your integrations page (Experity, Solv and the rest), so partners stay partners.
  3. Split by city: 43 still selling in New York, 15 in Los Angeles, 14 in Tennessee. basic_profile.location

These reps already know the practice manager, the front desk and the phone queue. That's the room a Flip healthcare AE walks into.

Who else is hiring the same reps

Competitive intel

Companies selling AI agents for support calls are hiring AEs and SDRs right now. Since July 1, Decagon posted 9 sales roles, Hello Patient 7 (six of them AEs for physical therapy practices), Parloa 5 and PolyAI 4, whose AE posts mention retail and voice. Reps from your eleven are already moving to AI-first companies too: 22 of them, including 6 at Anthropic.

How it runs
  1. Every week, read new sales postings at a set of AI-agent companies. job_search
  2. See who they hired into those seats, and where from. person_search
  3. Flag it when one of them hires from your eleven, or opens a seat in your city.

When an AI-agent company opens an AE seat in New York, the reps you want get the same recruiter email you're about to send.

The pattern in the data

Follow the reps, not the logos.

Half your list has a thin US sales bench on public profiles today. The reps who left are still selling.

Bluecore, Blueshift and mParticle have had 179 US sales ICs between them over the years. 76 still sell as ICs somewhere else, and only 2 still show that seat on their public profiles today. A list of logos finds whoever is still there; the alumni are where most of the bench went.

Flip's own hiring shows the same thing. Of 11 sales hires since January, one held a sales seat at a company on your list: an October Enterprise AE who spent five years at Bluecore, from SDR to Enterprise AE. The other ten came from ten different places.

Straight answers

The questions from the call.

Q1Is Claude doing the searching, and Crustdata checking it?

The other way around. Claude loads Crustdata's tools and calls them: person search, company search, enrich. The people and company data comes from Crustdata, not a general web search. Claude does the reasoning on top: picking the lookalikes, grouping, drawing the chart.

Q2What does it connect into?

Crustdata is a headless data provider: an API and an MCP connector, plus a light dashboard. In Claude it's a connector you add once. The same calls work from code or an automation tool, if you'd rather not work in a chat.

Q3How fresh is it?

Two paths. Our index covers 1B+ people and 60M+ companies and refreshes on a rolling 30-day cycle. Live APIs read a profile in real time when a move is too new for the index. This page uses both: careers from the index, then a live re-read of all 2,360 people in plays 01 and 03 for where they work today.

Q4Do I have to hand it a full list of companies?

No. It can pick lookalikes, like the five here. The more detail you give it (the buyer, the segment, the deal size), the better the picks. Send a list when you have one; it isn't required.

Q5Any competitors we should know about?

Play 05 shows the AI-agent companies hiring the same reps right now. Which of them you meet in deals is your call, and the watch list changes in a line.

Q6Does it work past sales?

Yes. The flow works on any seat: customer success, implementation, engineering. Point it at your own team and it becomes a talent-planning view.

What happens next

Mark it up. We'll re-run it.
